"Nurturing the Mother is very natural and deeply intuitive. You will learn tools that are beyond technique. It is about healing fear around pregnancy and birth and embracing the sacredness and joy of welcoming a new life." -Lucy Hagan, LMT, Pikesville, MD

About the Instructors

Claire Marie Miller

Claire graduated from the Boulder School of Massage Therapy in 1979. Soon after newly married and pregnant, she taught her first pregnancy massage class called Pleasant Pregnancy. The journey of pregnancy and massage was further developed through receiving extensive massages, from a mother of three teens who shared her mothering wisom as she massaged Claire.

"Judy massaged me in early labor, giving me a full body massage, as we talked of babies and read poetry. What a great way to enter labor! James was born May 4, 1981 after only 2 hours in the hospital and 20 minutes of pushing. I knew the value of massage in pregnancy and during labor."

The gift of a postpartum massage by another friend/massage therapist on the third day of postpartum was equally wonderful.

"I was inspired to believe that all pregnant moms deserved this."

Nurturing the Mother was born out of James's pregnancy and birth and followed by the wisdom learned through Jessica, born Nov 13, 1984 at home, and into her mother's arms. And lastly Danielle born underwater June 1, 1987 into her father's hands.

Amy Stenger-Sullivan

Amy Stenger-Sullivan, L.M.T. graduated from Self Health, Inc., school of Medical Massage in 1995. In 1997, she took the Nurturing the Mother training course, and has been working with NTM ever since. Her birthing experiences were greatly influenced by Nurturing the Mother and she had two empowering births, the second at home. She brings her knowledge, humor and love of pregnancy, babies, and families to the class. In addition to teaching NTM, Amy teaches Infant Massage, Newborn Massage, and Nurturing the Pregnant Couple. She holds a license in Massage Therapy from the State of Ohio Medical Board and is Nationally Certified with NCBTMB. In addition to specializing in pregnancy massage, Amy offers Cranial Sacral Therapy, Aromatherapy, Integrated Bodywork, Somatic re-education, Reflexology and Reiki and is a Certified Infant Massage Therapy Instructor.

TAG Woods

T.A.G. Woods, LMBT has followed a journey which has led her to wholeheartedly embrace the birth experience. Inspired by Nurturing the Mother and the work with Claire Marie Miller, T.A.G. chose to work with women through the incredible life transition of mothers, babies and their families. She has had the honor of studying with many of the renown experts in the field of massage and childbirth, including Ina May Gaskin, Penny Simkin, Tiffany Field, Marie Mongan, Teresa Kirkpatrick Ramsey, and Vimala McClure.

T.A.G. graduated from the Body Therapy Institute in 2000. Before the specialization of her studies began, T.A.G.'s clients were already experiencing pregnancy and wanting her to work with them throughout their birthing journey. With further study through Nurturing the Mother and Baby's First Massage, HypnoBirthing and becoming a certified professional doula, T.A.G. has been able to fully support and nurture her pregnant clientele.

T.A.G. is now moving onward with her own wisdom and wealth of knowledge and Claire's blessing to teach and certify others through Nurturing the Mother.
